Formed in 1967, 85 Transport initially operated under the nickname of ‘Wheels Across Vietnam’. Sometime after its deployment to Vietnam it became known as the ‘Road Runners’. This nickname has persisted right up until today.

Today, 85 Transport Troop is a part of 26 Squadron of the Royal Australian Army Corps of  Transport.
